Mary,
That is a very heart breaking account. Thank you for sharing it. We don't encounter death very often so sometimes we forget that it happens. It’s like we always hear about it, but never think hard on it. Life is meant to be finite here on earth. To extend life would be morally wrong. We live for 70 years maybe 80 if we have the strength the Bible says. I think that our society tries to deny death like it is a disease. We try to come up with technology to stop death, but what we are doing it taking the dignity out of it. Death is inevitable. We must face that. To keep trying to stop it is like saying that someone who dies just gave in or was too weak instead of saying that they had a respectable life and thanking God for letting us know them for as long as we did.
Of course I believe in keeping one healthy for as long as possible, but to try to live forever is wrong. Medical science should realize that life does come to an end. Our souls go on to another place where we will be judged for what we have done. This life on earth is not the end all. It is only the testing grounds, where our souls are given so many years to either serve God or not. This is the place where our souls animate a physical body giving it breath and personality. This is the only place where we get to decide what the final destination of our souls will be.
Few people know that we are put here for a purpose. That purpose is to serve God and enjoy him. Instead we spend our time searching for riches and power. We look to others for recognition and glory. Only when we are brought back to the fact that death occurs does it make us think about our Soul. What could be more important? Yet we will do anything not to think about that.
Why? Because it’s scary. It’s unknown. We fear the Unknown. And yet the whole truth about our soul and the purpose for our lives has been given to us from our Creator. The Bible spells it out for us very clearly, if we will only take the time from our gold digging to listen.
God Bless you all,
Bett
