The Virus

They constantly warned me
‘You’ll catch it if you don’t be careful
Don’t get to close’
I washed my hands till they bleed in pusillanimity
In a moment I could become infected
Contamination can spread
But the closeness drew me in
I dropped my guard
I relaxed
It infected me
It took my very being and changed me
It took my cells and turned them against me
Now, can my system fight it off?
Will I survive?
Do I want to survive?
